Thabit ibn Arqam RA

Thabit ibn Arqam RA was a famous Companion of the Ansar and a veteran of Badr. At Mu'tah in 8 AH, when all three appointed commanders had fallen, he seized the fallen flag, pulled back to regroup and called the Muslims to choose a leader. Refusing command himself, he joined in urging it on Khalid ibn al-Walid, a Muslim of only a month or two, who took the flag.
