Sallam ibn Abi al-Huqayq was a leader of the Banu al-Nadir and, after their expulsion to Khaybar, one of its wealthiest men and an open enemy of the Muslims. In 5 AH he went with Huyayy ibn Akhtab to rally the Quraysh against Madinah and became the chief financier of the confederate army at the Trench, above all paying the tribe of Ghatafan. Most likely in 6 AH, a party of the Khazraj under Abdullah ibn Atik, with the Prophet ﷺ's permission and his command to harm no woman or child, entered Khaybar by night and killed him.
