Sahal and his brother Suhayl were orphans in Madinah who had inherited a piece of land from their father, a ground used not for date palms but for drying dates. When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah after the Hijrah, his camel knelt down on their land. The Prophet ﷺ asked whose land it was, and the two brothers said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, this is a gift to Allah from us." The Prophet ﷺ refused to take it except for its due price. He agreed a price with them and paid it, and Masjid al-Nabawi was built there.
