A Man of Zubayd

This unnamed merchant of Zubayd in Yemen was cheated by the powerful Qurayshi al-As ibn Wa'il years before the Prophet ﷺ's mission. When no clan would help him, he recited his grievance publicly at the Ka'bah, and al-Zubayr ibn Abd al-Muttalib gathered the Quraysh to swear the Hilf al-Fudul, pledging to defend the wronged whatever their tribe. The young Prophet ﷺ was present and later said he would still uphold that pact.
