Khubayb ibn Adi RA

Khubayb ibn Adi RA was one of the Companions betrayed at al-Raji in 4 AH, when tribes who had asked for teachers ambushed them. Surrendering under a false promise of safety, he was sold in Makkah to the Banu al-Harith, whose man he had killed at Badr. As a prisoner he refused to harm their child who wandered within reach of his razor, and his captor said she had never seen a nobler prisoner, eating grapes when none could be found in Makkah. Before his execution he prayed two short rak'ahs, so they would not think him afraid of death, the first to do so, a practice later approved as sunnah.
