These were members of a Jewish family of Khaybar who, after its conquest in 7 AH, sent the Prophet ﷺ a roasted lamb that a woman of their family, bereaved in the fighting, had poisoned, especially the shoulder he preferred. The Prophet ﷺ took one bite and stopped, saying the meat had told him it was poisoned, but Bishr ibn al-Bara' RA died of it, and the Prophet ﷺ felt its effects for the rest of his life. Questioned, the family admitted it, saying that if he were a prophet it could not harm him, and named the woman responsible.
