Hisn was the chieftain of the Banu Fazarah and father of ten sons, among them Uyaynah ibn Hisn. Gravely ill at the end of his life, he had each son promise to obey him and then asked to be killed to end his pain; only Uyaynah agreed, on the promise of the chieftaincy, and so he killed his father and became chief.
