The father of Rabi'ah ibn Abbad was camped with his family during a hajj season in Makkah when the Prophet ﷺ came to his tent, calling him to worship Allah, to give up idolatry, and to take the Prophet ﷺ under his tribe's protection. An old man in a Yemeni cloak followed behind. When the Prophet ﷺ moved on to the next tent, the old man stepped forward and urged the people not to abandon al-Lat, al-Uzza and the ways of their forefathers. His young son Rabi'ah asked who the two men were. He told him, "The first man is the man claiming to be a prophet, and the elderly man is his uncle Abd al-Uzza, Abu Lahab."
