This unnamed man was a brother of the poet Ka'b ibn Zuhayr and had already accepted Islam. Ka'b's hostility grew after his brother became Muslim, and his satirical verses against the Muslims went as far as attacking Muslim women. Even so, after the Conquest of Makkah in 8 AH, his brother wrote him a heartfelt letter: "Flee this land if you value your life, or else convert to Islam and seek forgiveness, for if you repent, the Prophet ﷺ always accepts the repentance of those who repent." Although Ka'b had done the worst thing a poet could do, his Muslim brother still cared for him. The letter moved Ka'b to reflect, and he came to Madinah, repented and embraced Islam.
