This man was the second envoy the Quraysh sent with Amr ibn al-As to the Najashi of Abyssinia, to demand the return of the Muslims who had emigrated there. The sources differ on who he was: some say Abdullah ibn Abi Rabi'ah, and others Umara ibn al-Walid. After their first appeal to the Najashi failed, Amr told him as they left that he had one last trick and would return the next day. His companion answered, "Leave it, ya Amr. In the end, they are our relatives."
