Amir ibn al-Tufayl was an arrogant chieftain of the Banu Amir ibn Sa'sa'ah of Najd and one of the most treacherous enemies of the early Muslims, who offered to accept Islam only if he were given rule over the Bedouins or the succession. In 4 AH he had the Prophet ﷺ's messenger Haram ibn Milhan RA killed and raised the clans that massacred the seventy reciters at Bir Ma'unah. Later he came to Madinah with his tribe's delegation plotting with Arbad ibn Qays to kill the Prophet ﷺ, who prayed that Allah suffice him against Amir. On the way home he was struck by a disease and died alone in the desert.
