Al-Walid ibn al-Walid RA

Al-Walid ibn al-Walid RA was a son of al-Walid ibn al-Mughirah of the Banu Makhzum and the older brother of Khalid ibn al-Walid RA. Captured fighting for the Quraysh at Badr, he accepted Islam as a prisoner but let Khalid pay his ransom before slipping back to Madinah. He answered the Prophet ﷺ's call to rescue Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah RA and Hisham ibn al-As RA, breaking them out of their prison in Makkah by night. After Umrah al-Qada in 7 AH he wrote Khalid a letter relaying the Prophet ﷺ's words about him, which helped bring Khalid to Islam.
