Al-Mundhir ibn Qudama RA was the Companion in charge of guarding the men of Banu Qaynuqa after they surrendered to the Prophet ﷺ in 2 AH. Abdullah ibn Ubayy, their old ally, marched straight to the camp where they were held and demanded their release, saying that if the Muslims would not free them, he would. Al-Mundhir told him, "If you dare do it, I will kill you." Unwilling to risk his life, Ibn Ubayy went to plead with the Prophet ﷺ instead. In the end the Prophet ﷺ spared the tribe's lives and gave them three days to leave Madinah.
