al-Miqdad RA

Al-Miqdad ibn Amr RA, also called al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad, was one of the earliest Muslims and among the first seven to declare Islam openly in Makkah, enduring torture for it. He emigrated to Madinah and rode one of only two horses in the Muslim army at Badr in 2 AH. When the Prophet ﷺ consulted the army before the battle, al-Miqdad declared that they would not say what the Children of Israel said to Musa AS, but would fight alongside him, and the Prophet ﷺ praised him.
