Al-Harith ibn Aws RA was one of the small group of Companions who went with Muhammad ibn Maslamah RA to kill Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf in 3 AH. When Ka'b came out of his fortress at night and lowered his head so Abu Na'ila could smell his perfumed hair, Muhammad ibn Maslamah seized him and the others struck. Ka'b was wearing armor, and in the struggle al-Harith was badly wounded by the blows of his own companions. Bleeding heavily, he limped back toward Madinah. When the Prophet ﷺ met the group, he put his saliva on al-Harith's wound, and it healed at once.
