أبو لبابة الأنصاري
Abu Lubabah RA was a Companion of the Ansar from the Aws, remembered above all for his repentance. He set out for Badr sharing a camel with the Prophet ﷺ and Ali RA and is counted among its veterans, and he fought at Uhud. During the siege of the Banu Qurayzah in 5 AH, his tribe's old allies asked for him as an adviser, and he signalled to them that surrender meant death. Realizing at once that he had betrayed Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, he tied himself to a pillar of the Prophet ﷺ's Masjid until Allah accepted his repentance, and the Prophet ﷺ untied him with his own hands. Verses of al-Anfal and al-Tawbah are said to relate to him, and the Pillar of Abu Lubabah still stands in the Masjid.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَخُونُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوٓا۟ أَمَـٰنَـٰتِكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
“O believers! Do not betray Allah and the Messenger, nor betray your trusts knowingly. And know that your wealth and your children are only a test and that with Allah is a great reward. O believers! If you are mindful of Allah, He will grant you a standard [to distinguish between right and wrong], absolve you of your sins, and forgive you. And Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.”
Said to have been revealed regarding Abu Lubaba's moment of disloyalty during the siege of the Banu Qurayza.
وَآخَرُونَ اعْتَرَفُوا بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَآخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
“And [there are] others who have acknowledged their sins. They had mixed a righteous deed with another that was bad. Perhaps Allah will turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”
