“And He creates that which you do not know”
Cited in ep.023 among the wisdoms/benefits of al-Isra wal-Mi'raj.
“We give you drink from what is in their bellies — between excretion and blood — pure milk, palatable to drinkers.”
The Mi'raj narration of being offered milk and wine and choosing the milk (interpreted as choosing the fitrah) echoes this ayah's praise of milk as "pure... palatable to drinkers."
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ ۚ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
“Indeed, Allah commands justice, grace, as well as courtesy to close relatives. He forbids indecency, wickedness, and aggression. He instructs you so perhaps you will be mindful.”
The post is the Prophet ﷺ reciting this exact ayah (Q16:90) to the Banu Shayban delegation after they asked if there was more.
مَن كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ مِن بَعْدِ إِيمَانِهِ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُ مُطْمَئِنٌّ بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَٰكِن مَّن شَرَحَ بِالْكُفْرِ صَدْرًا فَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
“Whoever disbelieves in Allah after their belief — not those who are forced while their hearts are firm in faith, but those who embrace disbelief wholeheartedly — they will be condemned by Allah and suffer a tremendous punishment.”
This is the exact verse the event's own account cites: revealed to clarify that Ammar ibn Yasir RA's forced words under torture did not count against him, since his heart remained firm in faith.
وَإِنْ عَاقَبْتُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْتُم بِهِ ۖ وَلَئِن صَبَرْتُمْ لَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لِّلصَّابِرِينَ
“And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient -- it is better for those who are patient.”
Revealed after the Prophet ﷺ vowed to mutilate 30 Quraysh bodies in response to what was done to Hamzah RA, restraining the vow to a like-for-like limit.
