وائل بن حُجر
Wa'il ibn Hujr RA was a nobleman of Hadhramaut in Yemen, descended from its kings, whose coming to accept Islam in 9 AH the Prophet ﷺ foretold three days before he arrived. The Prophet ﷺ honoured him greatly, seating him on his cloak, and made him governor of a small area of Yemen. On the way he refused to let the young, poor Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan RA ride with him or wear his shoes, his royal manners not yet caught up with his faith. He fought for Ali RA at Siffin, and when later reminded of that day by Mu'awiyah, then caliph, said he wished he had acted otherwise.
