This unnamed Companion prayed Zuhr with the Prophet ﷺ in his masjid on the day the qibla was changed to the Ka'bah, some fifteen or sixteen months after the Hijrah. Those who had prayed with the Prophet ﷺ were to go and tell their own people. This Companion was responsible for the masjid of Banu Salama, but by the time he arrived the congregation was already praying Asr toward Bayt al-Maqdis. From the back he called out, "O people of the masjid! I have just come from the Prophet ﷺ's Masjid, and I prayed with him Zuhr, and he was praying facing Makkah! The command has come to change direction!" The whole congregation turned around mid-prayer, the imam walking through the rows to the new front. That masjid has been known ever since as Masjid al-Qiblatayn, the Masjid of the Two Qiblas.
