These two unnamed men were slaves of the Quraysh army captured on the eve of Badr in 2 AH. The Companions, hoping to find only the caravan, beat them each time they said they were with the army, until the Prophet ﷺ rebuked them for beating the truth-tellers. By asking how many camels the Quraysh slaughtered daily, the Prophet ﷺ estimated the army at nine hundred to a thousand, and the slaves named the nobles marching with it.
