Accepted Islam on the road out to Badr after three attempts to join the expedition were refused until he testified to the shahada.
This man was a brave idolater of Madinah who asked to join the Muslims marching to Badr in 2 AH, hoping for a share of the booty. Twice the Prophet ﷺ asked whether he believed in Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and when he said no, told him, "Go back, I will not seek help from a mushrik." The third time he said yes, and was told to come along.
