This unnamed Jewish man came to Umar ibn al-Khattab RA some years after the Prophet ﷺ's death and said, "O Amir al-Mu'minin, you have a verse in your Qur'an which, if we had its equivalent, we would have taken that day as a day of eid." When Umar asked which verse, he recited, "This day I have perfected your religion for you" [5:3]. Umar replied that he knew exactly when it was revealed: the Prophet ﷺ was standing on the plain of Arafah on the day of the greatest Hajj, which was already a day of celebration for the Muslims.
