An Old Bedouin (informant near Badr)

This unnamed old Bedouin was camped near Badr in 2 AH when the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr RA rode out for news. Believing them neutral, he estimated from the dates of departure exactly where both the Muslim and Quraysh armies were camped. Asked in turn where they were from, the Prophet ﷺ answered, "We are from water," a truthful double meaning.
