Ubay ibn Khalaf

Ubay ibn Khalaf was a man of the Quraysh and one of the most vulgar and relentless mockers of the Prophet ﷺ in Makkah, and the only idolater killed by the Prophet ﷺ's own hand. He boasted he was fattening a horse to kill the Prophet ﷺ on, and the Prophet ﷺ answered that he himself would kill Ubay, if Allah willed. He also wagered against Abu Bakr RA over the prophecy of Surah al-Rum. At Uhud in 3 AH he charged the Prophet ﷺ, who wounded him in the neck with a spear; Ubay knew it was a death wound and died on the way home at Sarif.
