Suraqah ibn Malik ibn Ju'shum RA was a chieftain of the Banu Mudlij of Kinanah who pursued the Prophet ﷺ during the Hijrah for the Quraysh's reward of a hundred camels. Each time he closed in, his horse sank into the ground, and he gave up the chase, asked for a written guarantee of safety, and kept the secret; by one report the Prophet ﷺ asked him how it would be when he wore the bracelets of Kisra. He accepted Islam around the time of Hunayn in 8 AH, and on the Farewell Hajj asked the question that established that umrah had entered into Hajj until the Day of Judgment. After Persia fell, Umar RA placed the bracelets of Kisra on his wrists, fulfilling the prophecy.
