Sirma RA was the only hanif known in Madinah, a man who rejected the idols as a youth, considered and turned away from Christianity, and followed the religion of Ibrahim AS, composing poetry on the oneness of Allah. He lived many years in Makkah without finding what he sought and returned to Madinah. Over a hundred years old when the Prophet ﷺ arrived, he accepted Islam around the change of the qiblah and died shortly after, as if his life had been lengthened so he could become a Companion.
