Sarah was a freedwoman of one of the Banu Abd al-Muttalib who had insulted the Prophet ﷺ in Makkah, and by one of Ibn Ishaq's informants she carried Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah's letter. At the Conquest of Makkah in 8 AH she was excluded from the amnesty, but was granted immunity and lived until the caliphate of Umar RA. Some later accounts count her as one of Ibn Khatal's two singing girls.
