These unnamed Companions were found weeping in the masjid after the news of the martyrdom of Zayd ibn Harithah RA, Ja'far RA and Abdullah ibn Rawahah RA at Mu'tah in 8 AH. The Prophet ﷺ consoled them that his ummah was like a pruned garden, and that Allah would not humiliate an ummah whose first was the Prophet ﷺ and whose last was al-Masih, a report Ibn Hajar graded hasan.
