Quzman was a man of unknown origin living among Banu Zafar in Madinah, of whom the Prophet ﷺ used to say that he belonged to the people of the Fire. At Uhud in 3 AH he fought fiercely and killed several of the Quraysh, among them standard-bearers of Banu Abd al-Dar, but said he had fought only for the honour of his people. Badly wounded, he took his own life, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "I testify that I am truly the Messenger of Allah ﷺ" (Ibn Ishaq).
