This unnamed man came to the Prophet ﷺ during a drought that had afflicted Madinah for months. In the middle of the Friday khutbah he said, "Ya Rasulullah, we have not had rain for months and our crops are withering, our animals are dying, and our children are starving. Make du'a to Allah that He sends rain." Anas RA said that they had not seen even a wisp of cloud for months, but as the Prophet ﷺ raised his hands, a thick cloud came racing from behind the mountain, and before he lowered his hands the rain was falling on the roof. The Companions had to hurry home to avoid being drenched, and they did not see the sun for a whole week. The next Friday, either the same man or another asked the Prophet ﷺ to pray for the rain to stop.
