This unnamed man once came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when is the Day of Judgment?" The Prophet ﷺ asked him in return what he had prepared for it. After a silence the man said, "I really do not have that much salah, siyam, or sadaqa, but I have a genuine love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ." The Prophet ﷺ said, "A man shall be with the one whom he loves." Anas ibn Malik RA, who narrated it in al-Bukhari, said the Companions had never been as happy as they were that day. They loved the Prophet ﷺ and had feared that their ranks would be too far below his for them ever to be with him in Jannah.
