This unnamed man of the tribe of Aslam brought Ka'b ibn Malik RA the news he had waited fifty nights to hear. In 9 AH, after Ka'b and two others were boycotted for staying behind from Tabuk, the Prophet ﷺ announced at Fajr on the fiftieth morning that Allah had accepted their repentance. People rushed out to give the good news. While one man galloped toward Ka'b on horseback, this man of Aslam climbed Mount Sal' and shouted at the top of his voice, "O Ka'b ibn Malik, there is glad tidings for you!" His voice reached Ka'b before the horse did, and Ka'b fell into prostration. When the man arrived, Ka'b took off the only two garments he owned and dressed him in them in gratitude, then borrowed clothes for himself to go to the Prophet ﷺ.
