مالك بن عوف النصري
Fled to Ta'if after the Battle of Hunayn and the coalition's defeat. When the Hawazin came to Ji'ranah to accept Islam and ask for their families back, the Prophet ﷺ asked after him and sent word that if he came as a Muslim, his family and property would be restored to him along with a hundred camels. Malik accepted the offer, came to the Prophet ﷺ as a Muslim, and was reinstated as chieftain over his own tribe.
Malik ibn Awf al-Nasri RA was the young chieftain, about thirty, who led the Hawazin and their allies, some twenty thousand men, against the Muslims at Hunayn in 8 AH. Against the counsel of the aged Durayd ibn al-Simmah, he ordered every fighter to bring his family and wealth to the battlefield, all of which became the Muslims' spoils when his army was routed. He fled to Ta'if, but when the Prophet ﷺ promised to return his family and property and give him a hundred camels if he came as a Muslim, he accepted Islam and was reinstated as chieftain. He then composed verses declaring that the Prophet ﷺ was truly a prophet, one who kept his promises and gave fortunes away.
