Kinanah ibn Khuzaymah was an ancestor of the Prophet ﷺ, whom, as the Prophet ﷺ said in a hadith of his lineage, Allah chose from all the descendants of Ismail AS, and from whose line He chose the Quraysh. His name means a quiver of arrows; he was known for bravery and wisdom, people are said to have combined the pilgrimage with meeting him, and sayings of his are recorded in classical Arabic. The large tribe of Kinanah, to which the Quraysh belong, descends from him.
