This unnamed man was one of the Jews of Yathrib when the Prophet ﷺ made the Hijrah. For days the Muslims of the city had gone out each morning toward Quba to wait for him, returning home when the sun grew too hot. One day, just after they had gone back, this man was at the top of a palm tree gathering dates and was the first to see the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr RA approaching in the distance. Caught up in the excitement that had gripped the whole city, he shouted, "O Arabs, your king has arrived!" He called the Prophet ﷺ their king, the one the Aws and Khazraj had taken as their leader, and not a king of the Jews, whose leaders at that time still considered it the Arabs' affair.
