Idris AS

Idris AS was a prophet of whom little is known beyond what Allah says in the Qur'an: "We raised him to a high place" [19:57]. The Prophet ﷺ said in a hadith that Idris was the first person ever to write with the pen, a skill Allah taught him and through which humanity learned writing. He was a prophet but not a messenger, since the Prophet ﷺ said the first messenger was Nuh AS.

On the night of al-Mi'raj, Idris AS greeted the Prophet ﷺ in the fourth heaven: "Welcome, O righteous brother, and O righteous prophet." Just as Allah had raised Idris to a high place, He told the Prophet ﷺ, "We have raised your rank" [94:4].
