Ghawrath ibn al-Harith was a Bedouin of Ghatafan who, on the return from Dhat al-Riqa' in 4 AH, took the sleeping Prophet ﷺ's sword from a tree and asked who would protect him; the Prophet ﷺ answered, "Allah," and the sword fell from Ghawrath's trembling hand. Holding the sword, the Prophet ﷺ spared him. Ghawrath did not accept Islam but promised never to fight him or help those who did, and told his people he had come back from the best of mankind.
