Dimad al-Azdi was a leader among the tribes of Yemen and a medicine man who came to Makkah during the years of the call. Warned that the Prophet ﷺ was a madman, he at first stuffed his ears, then resolved as an intelligent man to hear him and cure him if he was sick. On hearing the Prophet ﷺ's opening sermon of praise, khutbat al-hajah, he asked for it to be repeated, declared he had never heard anything so eloquent, and accepted Islam on the spot.
