These unnamed men made up a delegation of Banu Tamim, a Bedouin tribe of Najd, who came to Madinah in the Year of Delegations, 9 AH, to announce their acceptance of Islam. Imran ibn Husayn RA, who was sitting in the masjid, narrated that the Prophet ﷺ greeted them, "I give you good news, O people of Tamim," meaning the glad tidings of Jannah. Taking "good news" to mean a gift, they replied, "You are giving us good news, so give us then the money." The Prophet ﷺ remained silent. When the delegation of Himyar arrived next, he offered them the good news that Banu Tamim had not accepted.
