This unnamed man was the crier who went through the Muslim camp at Hudaybiyyah in 6 AH, when a rumor spread that Uthman ibn Affan RA, sent into Makkah as envoy, had been killed. He called out, "Jibril has come down to the Prophet ﷺ, and he is calling you to give allegiance to him!" The Companions came forward and pledged to fight the Quraysh and not flee. In reality Uthman was unharmed, and the call was a test of the believers' resolve. Because Allah declared His pleasure with those who took it, the pledge became known as Bay'at al-Ridwan, the Pledge of Pleasure.
