Busr ibn Sufyan al-Khuza'i was a man of the neutral tribe of Khuza'a whom the Prophet ﷺ sent ahead to Makkah as a scout when he set out for Umrah in 6 AH, since he would not be recognized. Returning at Usfan, he reported that the Quraysh had armed for war and sent Khalid ibn al-Walid to block the road, and the Prophet ﷺ consulted his Companions and took a route that avoided fighting, leading to the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Whether he was then a Muslim is disputed; Ibn al-Qayyim held that he was not.
