Budayl ibn Warqa' was a noble leader of the Khuza'ah, a tribe near Makkah sympathetic to the Prophet ﷺ and allied with his grandfather's clan. At al-Hudaybiyyah in 6 AH he was the first go-between, carrying the Prophet ﷺ's message that he had come not to fight but to honour the House, and advising the Quraysh that they were being hasty. In 8 AH he was out with Abu Sufyan ibn Harb and Hakim ibn Hizam when they saw the ten thousand campfires of the Muslim army outside Makkah.
