Barirah RA

Barirah RA was a slave whom Aisha RA bought and freed, and who chose to stay on as her maidservant. Once free, she ended her marriage to the slave Mughith, who followed her through Madinah in tears; when the Prophet ﷺ urged reconciliation, she asked whether it was a command or a suggestion, and declined. During the slander against Aisha RA, the Prophet ﷺ asked her about Aisha's conduct, and her only complaint, that Aisha fell asleep and let the goat eat the dough, testified to her innocence.
