This unnamed man of the Ansar was at Tabuk in 9 AH when an envoy of Heraclius arrived, a man of the tribe of Tanukh sent to carry the emperor's reply to the Prophet ﷺ's letter and to observe him. According to the Tanukhi's own account in Musnad Imam Ahmad, the Prophet ﷺ asked the Companions, "Who amongst you will host this man for the night?" One of the Ansar stood up and said, "I will," and the envoy spent the night as his guest.
