Amr ibn Sa'da was a man of Banu Qurayza who, when his tribe broke its covenant during the siege of the Trench in 5 AH, openly refused, saying he would never betray the promise of Muhammad ﷺ. On the night before the tribe surrendered, Muhammad ibn Maslamah RA recognized him leaving the fortress and let him pass, and he disappeared. The Prophet ﷺ said Allah had saved him because of his honesty, which shows the tribe was punished for what it did, not for who it was.
