عمرو بن عبسة
A Yemeni who traveled to Makkah after hearing of the Prophet ﷺ's preaching against idolatry; later accepted Islam formally after the Hijrah to Madinah, becoming one of the Muhajirun.
Amr ibn Abasah al-Sulami RA was a Companion who had rejected idolatry before Islam and travelled to Makkah to find the man said to be preaching against it, while the Prophet ﷺ was still calling in secret. Told that his followers were so far one free man and one slave, Amr asked to follow him, the first man from outside Makkah to do so, but the Prophet ﷺ told him to return to his people until he heard that Islam had prevailed. After the Hijrah Amr came to Madinah, where the Prophet ﷺ recognized him, and he became one of the Muhajirun.
