Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum RA was a blind Companion of the Quraysh whom the Prophet ﷺ placed in charge of Madinah at least a dozen times in his absence, including the march to Badr, because he was a wise and sensible man, showing that disability was no bar to responsibility. His cousin Fatimah bint Qays RA spent her waiting period in his house on the Prophet ﷺ's advice.
