A small settlement near the Syrian border, approximately 40 km from modern-day Sakaka in al-Jawf province. Home to the Christian Arab tribe of Kindah, originally from Yemen, one of the largest and most prestigious tribes in Arabia with a strong relationship with the Emperor of Rome; its chieftain was called a king (malik).
